Climbing Wall

History

The AOAC climbing wall was once just a dream. That dream became a reality when a team led by the then centre manager Roy Page, who with some phenomenal community support and time given by local business and individuals allowed that dream to be realised. After years of fundraising the wall was built and opened to the public on the 2nd August 2003. Since, that day the wall has provided a gateway to climbing for countless individuals and provided access for groups, schools and others to introduce the next generation to what is now an olympic sport.

We will always be grateful to Roy and Sally Page, Wayne Godson, Neil Harvey, Andy Hall and the countless others that made dreams come true for so many.

The wall is open to individuals and families daily. Monday to Friday we open from 12:00 and we welcome climbers to stay with us until 22:00. Saturdays we open at 09:00 to 22:00 and close at 17:00 on Sundays.

All climbers must register as competent climbers or complete an on-site induction course

Children from the age of 8 upwards are welcome but must be accompanied by a registered adult climber.

Please be aware that some areas of the wall may have restricted access to support groups and others.
